amazing - you heard it here first

Each week Ruth Barnes at Breakfast looks at the most interesting blogs on the ‘net. Taking the spotlight this week on the show is the Abacus Post which is a blog that’s run by two friends, Neil and Dan, who are based in South Tyneside. Neil and Dan described the Abacus Post for us:

“mainly we tend to write about upcoming and emerging artists. I think our blog is better than other blogs because we have quite a wide span of genres and artists that we follow and offer coverage too.”

You can listen to the full chat with Neil and Dan below.

The Abacus Post is an excellent read for fans of new music, and we were drawn to it because Neil and Dan prefer quality over quantity. Whilst you won’t get a new post or review every single day, the content that is available always offers a unique opinion that isn’t just copied from another source.

The Abacus Post aren’t just an online blog, they also put on live events in the North East too.
They’re celebrating their first birthday in November in Sunderland with a line-up consisting of The Lake Poets and Joe Banfi, both artists we love here on the breakfast show.

If you’d like to recommend a blog to feature in My Blog’s Better Than Your Blog, then email Ruth with all the details you think she needs to know.

First Kiss Lips Birds

Each week Ruth Barnes at Breakfast looks at the most interesting blogs on the ‘net. Taking the spotlight this week on the show is First Kiss Lips a blog which is run by musician and writer Aug Stone who described First Kiss Lips for us:

“(it’s) a music blog, and it’s called First Kiss Lips because I always think of the feeling of hearing a really great song being similar to the feeling you have when you’ve first kissed someone that you’ve really fancied for quite a while.”

You can listen to the full chat with Aug below.

It’s wonderfully concise and personal, each post never outstaying its welcome and you’re very rarely more than a paragraph from some music which we love! We think that First Kiss Lips is a really special blog that you should definitely be checking out.

One of the features we love the most on Ruth Barnes at Breakfast is ‘My Blog’s Better Than Your Blog’. The clue is in the title really, we want to shine a light on all of you bloggers out there and find the best and most interesting blogs on the internet!

Kick Out The Jam

Taking the spotlight recently was Kick Out The Jam, a blog which is run by James Keith who writes about music, primarily electronica.

We asked James what he thinks has made his blog successful.  He said:

“I like to think that I write well, it’s not just an mp3 or a video and one line of text”.

You can listen to the full chat with James below.

James also told us why he thinks people would enjoy his blog:

“It’s fun, it’s not a super serious or pretentious blog and it’s not trying to be cool or anything like that its just me talking about music that I love.”

If you’re interested in electronic music then Kick Out The Jam is definitely the blog for you!

If you’d like to be the next blog to be involved in My Blog’s Better Than Your Blog, then you can email Ruth with all the details of your blog.

We’re in week one of our brand new Breakfast show on Amazing Radio with Ruth Barnes. The show has been packed full of features this week, including our Track of the Week from F.U.R.S, the first track from our Album Of The Month from Tamara Schlesinger.

One of the features we’re most excited to launch though, is ‘My Blog’s Better Than Your Blog’. The clue is in the title really, we want to shine a light on all of you bloggers out there and find the best and most interesting blogs on the internet!

Taking the spotlight in week one is Some Of It Is True, a blog which is run by Jeremy Verrall and focuses on americana, country and folk music. Some Of It Is True has also worked with Union Music Store, and Jeremy tells us “primarily our focus is on Americana, that’s where our passion lies”.

We asked Jeremy what he thinks has made his blog successful and he says “It’s our passion for the music, we’re not in the market of putting bands down. We interview and work with bands that we love.”

You can listen to the full chat with Jeremy below.

If you’re interested in americana, country and folk music then make sure that you check out Some Of It Is True and you can even give them a shout on twitter!

If you’d like to be the next blog to be involved in My Blog’s Better Than Your Blog, then you can email Ruth with all the details of your blog!
