T In The Park 2012

July 5th, 2012

We love festivals here at Amazing Radio – our Summer season started with The Great Escape back in May and now we’re excited all over again for T In The Park 2012. This weekend sees a whole host of massive bands make the trip to Balado, near Kinross, Scotland to play to thousands of fans across the three days.

Alongside headliners such as Kasabian, Snow Patrol and The Stone Roses, you’ll find a plethora of amazing artists on the bill too; including previous session guests Pulled Apart By Horses, The Jezabels, Dry The River, Spring Offensive and Alt-J.

Our ‘Man in the North’ Jim Gellatly, who’s show you can hear Sundays from 2pm (repeated Wednesday at 10pm) was one of the few new music aficionados responsible for deciding the T Break Stage line up this weekend – check out his T In The Park Special from last week for a head start on all of Jim’s favourite finds:

Be sure to tune in next week to hear all about what he got up to this weekend.

The Amazing Chart: Best Friends

February 13th, 2012

Every Sunday evening, Charlie Ashcroft counts down the Amazing Chart across the UK’s national DAB network on Amazing Radio. Here he is to give us the very latest lowdown on the last week’s movers and shakers from amazingtunes.com

Hello! Hot on the heels of the single being released here in the UK, Friend Crush by Friends has topped the Amazing Chart. The band have enjoyed some sell-out gigs in Manchester and London over the past seven days and will be making a return trip to UK shores in May to get their festival season started with an appearance at The Great Escape.

Their rise to the top means that Swiss Lips have fallen a place with U Got The Power, joined in the Top 3 this week by Oslo’s finest, Team Me. Slightly further down, Londoners The Ghosts and We Have Band have both entered the Top 5 for the very first time, while Devin and Howler are also on the up with maiden entries into the Top 10.

In the realm of New Entries, Lianne La Havas scores her second consecutive Amazing Chart hit with Forget having landed at Number 13, while Errors and Vanbot have made their chart bows inside the Top 20 with Pleasure Palaces and Make Me, Break Me respectively.

Hello! Our first Amazing Chart round-up for February sees us reflecting on another week of success for Manchester band Swiss Lips, who’ve stayed on top of our rundown for a second consecutive Sunday with their uber-catchy hit U Got The Power.

They’ve managed to hold on to the top spot in the face of some stiff competition this time around, with New York’s Friends rocketing to Number 2 on the eve of the UK release of Friend Crush, proving to be the biggest climbers inside the Top 20 as well as the Mancunian chart toppers’ closest competitors in the past seven days.

Climbing up to Number 2 this week: Friends

Jethro Fox remains in contention in the leading pack after over a month in the rundown, while The Collectable Few and Sharon van Etten have both continued their upward momentum to move into the Top 5 for the very first time. Slightly further behind, Team MeThe Ghosts and We Have Band have carried on making inroads inside our Top 10.

In terms of brand new entries inside the Top 20, Southend band Hoodlums have the highest of the lot with recent single Dark Horses landing at Number 12, while we also welcome Amazing Radio favourites Devin and Howler to the fold, both looking likely to climb further up the chart as the UK snow begins to thaw.
