amazing - you heard it here first

Amazing Radio‘s resident metal head, Aaron Phillips, gives us the lowdown on his route around Evolution Emerging. It’s testament to the diversity of the line-up that dyed-in-the-wool fans of rock can get something from the festival.

“Greetings Metal heads. I’ll be starting my Evolution experience by checking out the brilliant Eeves who are playing The Cluny. Putting an intelligent twist on the evening they’ll provide the perfect starter to the rock main courses in store later.”

“Now, if you fancy treating your ears to some fine polished Pop Punk/Rock, may I suggest to kick-start your weekend by checking out Newcastle’s very own Boy Jumps Ship. The former Rock Show Track of the Week artists are playing at The Cluny, and they’ll blow you away with their energetic, anthemic tunes. Their new E.P “Be Good Be Gracious” is out so expect new material from them in their set.

So here comes the tough choice. At 9.45 there’s a heavyweight clash in the form of Young Liar and Nately’s Whore’s Kid Sister, who each take to different stages at the same time. I’ll choose on the night but there are compelling arguments for each. If  intelligent Rock is your thing, I give you…Young Liar. Playing the Star and Shadow Cinema, their brand of atmospheric instrumental Rock will be a spellbinding experience to behold.

On the other hand, are the band with the best name on the planet: Natley’s Whore’s Kid Sister. Be prepared to receive an aural assault of haunting vocals, huge riffs, and an un-easy air surrounding you. they’re on stage at the Tyne and it promises to be a classic.

Rounding off the weekend, at the Tyne is We Are Knuckle Dragger. Agressive, melodic and mesmerising in equal parts, they’ll bring the curtain down on a great night for rock and metal fans at the festival.”

It's more than just a name…

If you’ve been struggling to find that all important, all impacting name for your band then look no further for your inspiration than the Heavy Metal Band Names Flowchart.

Breaking up your basic topics of satanic indulgence – like Death and Religion – over the points of a pentagram, each category is then broken down into its sub-categories with the appropriate names following. There’s a section for the trusty umlaut, a bit for names referencing (gothic American author) Faulkner, and a viking section to name a few.

This has set us off at amazingtunes, since amazingtunes obviously has its fair share of gore-inspiring metal acts gracing its pages, so below is a handful of our favourite metal monikers for you to devour.
