It may not have been the biggest shock in Chart history today when it was revealed that Alexandra ‘X-Factor’ Burke has scored a Number One for Christmas, with more than half a million sales of ‘Hallelujah, but the continuing love affair between the Christmas music buying public and the programme has moved to another level with the additional news that, the late and much lamented, Jeff Buckley’s definitive cover of the song has reached number two due to the irresistible pull of X-Factor. Even the original Leonard Cohen version has been invited to the party, reaching number 36 in the chart.
Leona Lewis to sing Obama's Praises
November 25th, 2008X-Factor winner of 2006 – and now global pop diva – Leona Lewis has been offered the gig of a lifetime performing alongside Jay-Z and Beyonce Knowles at Barack Obama’s inauguration ceremony.
Still in talks with the organizers, the 23 year old would see this as a brilliant way to cap off a year that has seen both her track ‘Bleeding Love’ and album ‘Spirit’ reach the top spot on both sides of the Atlantic.
