Half Welsh, half Iraqi, producer Dauwd has made quite some noise on the UK Bass scene with his newest EP What’s There. The 26 year old fuses electronica and house beautifully, creating a whole new level of soothing music.
Creatively, Dauwd works with natural rhythms, discovering a fresh organic sound; fans of Burial and Joy Orbison should immediately check this guy out. Dauwd is in fact the multi-cultured producer’s real name, his Asian roots are the influence for the Arabic pronunciation of David.
The talented producer is currently based in the seaside town of Brighton, a far cry from his small farming hometown in Wales where he first discovered his passion for music playing bongos in a soul band.
Our buddies at The Line Of Best Fit are also fans, describing Dauwd‘s tunes as “some of the most beautifully, carefully produced music we have heard in a long time” (and who are we to argue?), whilst BBC Radio 1 DJ Giles Peterson gushed, “love it love it love it.” Catch Dauwd at the highly anticipated Dockville Festival in Hamburg and the Outlook Festival in Croatia later this month.
