TUNE G&D - Where I'm From
Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins aka Declaime, collectively known as G&D share their latest single ‘Where I’m From’, lifted from the forthcoming album ‘Black Love & War’ due August 9th via SomeOthaShip Connect / eOne Music. Both life and musical partners, G&D have been together for over 13 years raising 3 children together.
The album is a celebration of ‘black love’ and the unity of the black family, but the album also delves into many of the socio-economic and racial issues that still have them at ‘war.’ The album features production from Oh No and Mike & Keys (Nipsey Hussle). Vocal features include Aloe Blacc, Latoiya Williams, Sean Biggs and Ms. Dezy.
Speaking on the album, Georgia says, “I want folks to feel pumped listening to Black Love & War”. “I want it to help them on their journey to fearlessness. I hope these songs help them release that magic, or makes their day more understandable.” Dudley adds, “this is the music that raises the vibration. We’re pushing each other for the betterment of the planet. We’ve gotta heal our people right now.”
Black Love & War won’t surprise those who’ve followed Georgia and Dudley to this point; the Cali-bred, Nevada-based couple have always challenged listeners to stand tall in the face of tyranny. As a result, Black Love & War feels like a classic Parliament-Funkadelic record, except the themes are tied to modern-day despair.
