Errol is the bold and adventurous debut album by Brooklyn-born, Barbados-raised rapper, Haleek Maul. This record finds Maul drawing on his dual heritage, combining rap and Caribbean vocal rhythms, and is born out of formative personal experiences. "Errol is dedicated to my late grandfather in both name and subject matter", explains Maul. "With this project I'm really working through a lot of the things I've learned about myself and the world in the period since I lost him.” Errol also features friends and peers Mick Jenkins, Ro Ransom, Sean Leon, plus production from GILA, Sebastian Sartor, Sega Bodega and others. Haleek Maul first surfaced back in 2012 - aged just 16 - with the critically acclaimed Oxyconteen EP. Since then, he’s gone on to collaborate with Supreme Cuts, Ryan Hemsworth, Le1f, Black Noi$e, Saul Williams, Last Japan and more. In 2015 he dropped full-length mixtape Prince Midas, and in 2018 - after a short hiatus in order to complete school - Maul signed to Lex Records and returned with the powerful In Permance EP. A vocalist and sometime producer, Maul’s wide-ranging musical influences span Vybz Kartel, Damon Albarn, Aphex Twin, Tricky, Crystal Castles and Kendrick Lamar.
