TUNE Brodie Milner - Acheron
Acheron tolls the death bell for intimacy. Its lilting melody circles around the muddy waters of loss, shamelessly pointing the finger of blame in every direction. But there's an abstraction to the lyrics that blurs the lines of reliability. Is the narrator objectively crestfallen? Or is there an overt criticism of stubborn masculinity? This central theme is accompanied by influences of Jazz, Psych, and Alt Pop, mixing together like fluid watercolours. The result is a deeply textured sonic palate that's subtly melancholic, and hugely arresting.
