Greta is a songwriter and composer who also produces her own music. She grew up in a small seaside town in northern Germany playing classical music and listening to her parents’ records. Very early on she discovered a need to express herself in an artistic way, both musically and visually.
She moved to Denmark in 2011 and has since been very active on the Danish music scene. First with her band Who is Louis which has released 2 EPs and an album and played live shows all over the country.
After disbanding Who is Louis and moving to Copenhagen in 2016 she returned to writing songs on the piano and began producing them, too. With a desire to let the music reach its full potential, she realized that she needed a partner.
“I had been following FARAO and had listened to her music for a few years thinking that she would understand my music and probably be able to add a little edge. We worked together for the first time in her studio in Berlin, September 2017. We are both really into shimmering harps, vintage synthesizers and 80s disco. We are always very inspired and productive when we work together,” Greta recounts.
Greta’s songs stem from her thoughts on life and inner contradictions, light, darkness and everything in between. Her music is a vital output for all those existential thoughts that serve to process pain or longing as well as for creating new stories.
Even though Greta has yet to release music in her own name, she has already been been on The Unexpected Fall Tour in Denmark supporting Jenny Wilson from Sweden and We Are The Way For The Cosmos To Know Itself From Denmark.
The first single off GRETA’s debut album will be released on the 1st of March and is recorded and produced in Berlin with Norwegian artist and producer Farao.
Aside from being a solo artist, Greta is part of the girl band Ida Red. The group is quite successful in Denmark, boasting hits on national radio as well as performances on national television. Furthermore she has recorded an EP with acclaimed Faroese artist Teitur which will be released later this year.
