TUNE Sunset Graves - The Black Night Satellite (Extract 2)
"In Blood brims with excitable electronica, each cracked beat flavoured with influences from throughout the rich history of dance music" Data Transmission
‘In Blood’ is the fourth long player released in three years by English musician Andy Fosberry aka Sunset Graves. The album is set for release on LP, handmade CD and digital on 25th March 2016.
Weaving myriad sounds, genres and themes through the record’s 40 minutes, ‘In Blood’ boldly captures the broad emotional and sonic output a modern musician can produce in 2016. Simultaneously exhibiting futurist techno, proto-DNB, sci-fi dub, progressive cinematics, field recordings and warped technology; it could be placed anywhere in the past 20 years of electronic music. This timeless quality aids in positioning the album outside of trends and fashion, concentrating on creating an enveloping listening experience.
Produced in a creative burst at the end of 2015, recording ‘In Blood’ was a cathartic experience for Sunset Graves. The journey from chaos to serenity is mirrored in the album sequencing. Opening track ‘The Sorrow’ is a micro version of the album itself; restlessly plunging between dense darkness, soundscape disorientation and heavenly melancholia.
Divided between 10 minute plus, multi-movement pieces and concise, metal edged beats, the album’s complex transition resolves through in final moments, growing more positive and confident before eventually dissipating in light.
