TUNE SERA - This Town
This Town: “there’s no spring and there’s no autumn now and all the bees are lost and I know honey’s not as sweet as it was.” As a child, you remember the summer holidays being great and the winter was all about gearing up for Christmas. Now, seasons blur into each other and there can be snow in Spring and sunshine in autumn. The notion that everything was better in the past, or was it just because you saw though child’s eyes? Now...you hear about climate change and the world slowly dying. The idea of my home town was going to the beach. Tourists visit the old castles and ramblers walk the countryside and mountains. While I still see all that beauty, I also see the pain that surrounds it; poverty, unemployment, anger. Wales has many poor areas, and mining villages that once thrived due to industry, though may have their poetic scenery, also has lack of opportunity for its young people and struggling families.
