Drawing inspiration from the likes of Jamiroquai, Pharrell Williams and Mark Ronson FØNX delivers RnB-infused pop with jazz, funk and soul influences, merging catchy grooves, memorable hooks and intricate guitar licks with inspired lyrical content. ‘Jack Rabbits’ encapsulates these eclectic influences perfectly with a strong funk punch added to the mix, packaging them into an infectious hook filled track exploring heartbreak and the sometimes confusing situation of the ‘friend zone’ after relationships. “The initial ideas for Jack Rabbits came about at a time when I needed to vocalize my emotions. I find the only way I can come to terms with things sometimes is to write about it and in this case I wanted to try make a fun track and something you could dance to almost flip the situation on its head and make light of the situation.” FØNX explained. Jack Rabbits is the lead single off FØNX’s new 4 track EP which was written, produced and mixed himself. Recording vocals in a local studio and working mostly from home in a simple DIY setup, FØNX set out a goal at the start of the year to produce his first EP alone and create all the artwork and assets for it. “I have learnt so much being in control of this process solo and I feel like anything is now possible in terms of my creativity and how I want to grow this project. I started this EP knowing what I wanted to create but not knowing how I’d get there. Over the last few years I have learnt so much from working with really talented producers and I have always wanted to produce my own music as I love being in control of my vision.” With new songs on the horizon and talks of a second EP release later this year FØNX is already back in the studio and working on a new live show. If ‘Jack Rabbits’ is anything to go by, the next EP will no doubt be packed with wholesome grooves and masterful songwriting. With ongoing support from BBC Introducing, features on Channel 4, Sky TV Shows, a performance at Isle of Wight Festival, support from Music Crown social media channels (3.4m+), Spotify’s editorial playlists features including ‘New Music Friday, ‘Soultronic’, ‘Chilled Pop Hits’, and ‘Fresh Finds’ reaching over 1million playlist follower reach all together, a feature on Apple Music’s ‘Best of the week’ playlist, playlisting in Zara stores globally and playlisting in Body Shop stores FØNX is undoubtedly one to watch in 2019.
