TUNE Fred Lessore - Give A Little Time
Coming from a will-they-won't-they type space, GIVE A LITTLE TIME embodies the move from post-breakup remorse to full blown reconciliation, combining feelings of hope, joy and love to explore the reality of ‘limbo’ and the desire to reunite.
Juxtaposing a light-hearted musical arrangement with lyrics about yearning for consolidation, Give A Little Time chooses to build its tension during the verses. Anearnest vocal delivery and a minimalistic guitar pattern is used as a backdrop before boldly being broken up by means of an 80s inspired synth palette.
When the chorus kicks in, however, the glorious simplicity of the instrumental transforms into a wholly different animal; an ethnically ambiguous and optimistic cheer takes over, aided by an Afro-Caribbean inspired groove and bouncing synths. The chorused synths dance around each other seamlessly, like weird 8-bit birds playing in the wind, while the earworm melody flicks in and out of falsetto with ease, delivering wonderfully irregular vocal runs, exuberant harmonies and an undoubtedly catchy tune.
