TUNE A.O. Gerber - Tell Me
A.O. Gerber has revealed her new single “Tell Me” - the stunning final track to appear ahead of her debut album, Another Place To Need, out 22nd May and on recycled vinyl on 12th June via Hand In Hive / Copper Mouth Records.
Of the track Gerber explains :
“Tell Me” was the last song I wrote for the record. It was scary to write - scary to write about masturbation as a woman, and even scarier to write about it in a tone that isn’t jocular and a context that isn’t very self-accepting. It’s hard to admit to the dissonance that exists between self-pleasure and self-loathing - that you can simultaneously hate and love your own body, and that pleasure can be just as much about loneliness and longing as it is about sexual empowerment.
“Tell Me” sees Gerber at her most intimate, as the track peaks and troughs between hushed vocal and nylon-string guitar to powerfully moving moments, pleading for “a love that’s embarrassing”. Her beautifully vulnerable songwriting style as well as her vocal and production skill is perfectly outlined in this emotional final taste from Another Place To Need.
The release follows support from new music champions such as KEXP, The Line Of Best Fit, GoldFlakePaint, Clash and NYLON.
