TUNE Astral Cloud Ashes - Old Moods
the best description of the song If I had to explain it would be through the lyrics of the Chorus; particularly these lines:
You were in your own mood
I was in the other room
I was on my old phone
hoping to get left alone
with my concrete heart
It's a description of a real relationship that I've experienced which feels graphically honest and kind of sad in a postmodern way I suppose, I'm sure that at least that much does come across. it's quite direct.
but ultimately its all true so when I wrote and recorded the song it was a really strong feeling of satisfaction to describe this time in my life, I basically saw the situation in a new way after I wrote the song. This was the song that when Id finished the chorus I knew the new album was on its way and what form it would take.
I mixed the track on an Island in the Thames (London) with a guy called Fuzz in an old warehouse, we started mixing it in March 2017, and after one day I was so distressed with how unlike the song I was hearing in my head that It got shelved until December 2017 when we tried again... 2-3 hours before we finished we made some radical changes and basically stripped a lot of the effects back and we finished the song that night, It sounds like it did when It was tracked/recorded but with Fuzz's mix expertise input and Mastering from Tim Turan.
