HJM Bradshaw (Harriet Bradshaw) has released her debut single Mermaids and Pondskaters, 07.02.2020. The single is being featured on the Spooker Rekkids Sampler 3, and is taken from her upcoming self-titled EP, which will follow later this year. Recorded at Airtight Studios, Manchester, and released on Spooker Rekkids, the EP features four original songs, showcasing this songwriter’s stripped-bare, haunting vocals with acoustic guitar and piano accompaniment. HJM Bradshaw is a singer-songwriter from Teesside, having also been regular cellist for North East artists Tom Joshua, Nel Unlit, and Elaine Palmer, as well as Mercury Prize nominated John Bramwell (I Am Kloot), for a number of years. Bradshaw is a classically trained pianist and cellist, as well as having a background in choral singing, and the influence of this can definitely be seen in her songwriting and crisp vocal style.
An eclectic mix of musical and literary influences, including solo artists such as Joni Mitchell, Laura Marling, Carole King, Carole Bayer Sager, Kate Bush and Rufus Wainwright, as well as poets Sylvia Plath, Frank O’hara and Simon Armitage.
