TUNE James Holt - Whatever Happened to John?
This song was chosen by Brian Eno. He said of the track: "Brisk, funny, exciting. Great drumming. This track feels fresh and exciting to listen to". I'm particularly pleased because I recorded and produced the song myself. I was chosen by Brian Eno via the NOISE Festival 2014.
"You can stand me in a line but you'll never be in control" roars James Holt in Whatever Happened to John?, a song inspired in-part by Orwell’s Nineteen Eighty-Four and by a TV film entitled Snodgrass set in an alternate reality in which John Lennon left the Beatles before the heights of Beatlemania and is wandering around modern day Liverpool without a job venting, quirky lines to innocent lift attendants. This blistering opening track dwells on social rejection and absurdity (“... conducting cars with a baton”), of protest against The Man and serves as a commentary of society with each verse satirically depicting social caricatures.
