Dylan Cattanach introduces Katanak and takes his writing and performing in a new direction. Fresh, a groove, youthful. Music is an expression for Katanak, he wants his crowd to feel, move and live through his melodies & catchy pop hooks. Katanak has been writing and composing for over 6 years, initially playing acoustically around Brisbane to hone his craft, and now with the addition of a band you’ll get to experience the songs the way they were intended. He takes influence from the creative styles of The Wombats, The 1975, and Two door Cinema Club who he describes as the most creative artists of our time.
At the start, his focus was with his first band KB Theory for which he wrote and composed all the music & lyrics. KB Theory’s single ‘Lights of Tokyo’ reached no. 37 on 4ZZZ’s 2018 hot 100. This band helped Katanak kick-start his music career and discover the sound he was chasing. Around this time, Katanak started to explore composing and producing with local artists. He’s also had the opportunity to work with the renowned Kier Nuttall on his synth pop project “Katanak” releasing in September and guaranteed to make you move.
More recently, in January this year, Katanak had the incredible chance to perform with one of Australia's hardest working artists, Pete Murray, on his "Summer Sessions tour 2019". He was the opening act alongside Garrett Kato, playing at sold out shows in front of thousands of people. It was an incredible experience he will never forget.
