County Durham indie-punks Martha today share their new video for ‘ Wrestlemania VIII’, one of the standout tracks from their new album Love Keeps Kicking, which was released earlier this year via Big Scary Monsters. The video is a charming tongue-in-cheek homemade effort by the band, and a reflection of their truly DIY spirit.
After a summer of lauded festival appearances, and their recent headline slot at Oxford’s If Not Now, When? festival, Martha are set to hit the road this Autumn to take Love Keeps Kicking across the UK. The band are due to play some of their biggest shows to date, kicking off with a sold out night in Nottingham and stopping London’s Heaven on November 8th.
Earlier this year Martha released their widely acclaimed third studio album Love Keeps Kicking, which received a brilliant spread of glowing reviews. The album is in-part a breakup record which takes the journey through the full spectrum of emotions associated with heartbreak. In true Martha style, the album takes heavy subject matter and turns them into a riotous cause for celebration, reminding the listener that what hurts right now, won’t hurt forever. In Love Keeps Kicking, Martha let their pop hooks lead the way, and finds the band writing with reinvigorated focus, producing some of the finest hooks and choruses to date.
Martha’s latest album Love Keeps Kicking is out now via Big Scary Monsters (UK/EU/ROW) and Dirtnap Records (US).

I used to sort of be ashamed to be myself,
I used to sort of try and hide and try and act like someone else,
I used to sit alone and cry sometimes and curse my own reflection, how sad,
Hearing laughter through the walls, it can't all be that bad,
They say absence makes the heart grow fonder,
When we first met it felt like we'd been friends for so much longer.
You were hanging at the snooker club and you were acting kind of hyper,
You said you'd met the ghosts of Maya Angelou and Rowdy Roddy Piper,
It's like a cloud was hanging over me until the day we texted for the first time,
And the world just got a little brighter.
