Chris Belson’s musical heritage spurs from a cheap broken Spanish guitar, bought from an auction house at the age of 12. Over a decade later he’s now matured into a unique and intuitive songwriter, singing tender songs in a characteristically deep and affectionate voice. He still has the guitar.
His work swims in a diverse musical pool – finding influence in everything from folk, jazz and soul, alt-country and indie-pop, into almost Tin-Pan-Alley-esque ballads and Standards.
Today, the process of songwriting to Chris is scrupulous, but one that has helped him organically grow into a raw and honest songwriter. Chris designs his own artwork, and the affection for his art can be further witnessed at his live shows, where he fully immerses himself in his performances, filling the room with his rich vocals and regularly showcasing his talent at nights put on by Laid Bare Live.
Chris's debut EP, 'Moon Songs', is a powerful collection of songs about loneliness, longing and loss.
