Liotia (pronounced Ly-Oh-Sha) is a collaboration between singer/songwriter Abigail Hubbard and producer/engineer Matthew Smyth. Liotia combine Abigail’s haunting vocals, guitar and songwriting with Matt’s soundscapes, synths and production to create a truly enchanting mix of original sounds fusing electronica, trip hop and classic singer/songwriter influences.
The duo formed in 2017 self-releasing their debut EP So Close / Yours Tonight in July 2019, then signed with Ramrock Records to release the follow up, Blackout in November that year. The release featured remixes from Superstar DJ/Producer Ashley Beedle (X-Press 2, Black Science Orchestra) and the single gained support from BBC Radio 6’s Huey Morgan, was featured on BBC Introducing and Bandcamp’s weekly roundup as well as plays on Kiss FM (Australia), Soho Radio (London) BBC Radio Lancashire, Total Wired (London), Today FM (Ireleand). The follow up Silence continued to see the duo build their radio support base and will be released as a limited edition vinyl with remixes from Adrian Sherwood and Rothera Point. During the lockdown the duo have been writing an album and have another release due on Ramrock in the new year.
