TUNE Native Harrow - Can't Go On Like This
“Can’t Go On Like This” came about after the people in my life and strangers I chatted with
while on the road last year all seemed to say, “Your life is amazing. It must be nice to be on a
perpetual road trip playing music. I wish I could do something like that.” They were unhappy in
their jobs or their relationships and they appeared to be very fragile in that feeling. Over time, I
found myself thinking we all have moments where we are like “I have to keep going but I really
don’t know if I can”. And personally I believe when I am having a rough go of it I tend to look
backwards and wish I was a kid feeling that special kind of freedom again.
The Can’t Go On Like This video is inspired by running away from life for a few hours and childhood. Stephen and I filmed it ourselves and we wanted to capture a freedom that only bike riding in the sunshine can bring you. The song touches on how we all tend to get bogged down in our day to day lives whether that be work, emotions, or stress and in those moments we often deal with it by fantasizing about simpler times or what life could be like if we followed the dreams of our childhood. In the video you see me heading out in the early morning to go on a ride, tossing a bouquet of flowers back to the earth, and standing in a warm sunlit river. I cruise through the woods on my bike, abandon it and start running, and finally find myself lost in dance. The video ends with me turning to look back signalling that these day dreams end and reality always comes back into focus.
