MAHAVIRA are more than just another four-piece band based in London. In a very short time they have played many top London venues including “The Clapham Grand“ and “The Barfly”(London) and have secured radio play on the BBC Asian Network’s Friction show, leading them onto being featured as Friction’s “Introducing artist” in June 2008.
The band recorded a two-track promo CD representing their eclectic and alternative sound at the start of 2008. Their originality and blending of genres has compared them to the likes of The Mars Volta, Radiohead, and Tool. The music has an organic and alternative sound, but includes the deceptiveness of Indian time structures and elements of eastern sounds.
MAHAVIRA cite a wide range of influences, from jazz giants John Coltrane and rock bands like Opeth to Indian sitar guru Ravi Shankar.
