TUNE Mazlyn - Confessed
Mazlyn’s newest single 'Confessed’ is an intense yet melancholy take on indie rock that demonstrates his vocal style at its most direct and sincere. The first of three singles to be released over the spring, ‘confessed’ marks a stylistic evolution towards a more natural and live sound for the Suffolk coast based singer-songwriter and producer.
A grinding acoustic guitar along with Mazlyn's vocal holds the track together as it slowly builds in size and force with gritty guitars and thumping drums, until reaching a final roaring chorus. Lyrically the song is somewhat abstract, exploring subjects of deception, global warming, and a loss of control. Influences such as Big Thief, Elliott Smith and REM, along with his coastal residence, are clearly heard in the songwriting style.
