NEEDSHES is the alternative/rock band founded by prolific singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer Otabek Salamov originally from Tashkent (Uzbekistan). With a musically diverse experience in mind, he conceptualized the ideology of NEEDSHES in 2013.
Someone once described them as a balancing act between the moody vibe of The Neighbourhood, with dainty anthems reminiscent of The Killers, a bit of the oddball nature of Jack White, and the heartbreaking ballad skillset of Coldplay.
Bek attended the music academy where he was awarded the first price for his precision on clarinet. As a teen, his interests varied, and he was drawn to compose metalcore. One day he decided to dilute it with melodic undertones. Soon he realized that the switch was something that gravitated to his liking. He decided to create a new project.
Bek gathered a traditional rock band line-up. His biggest influences stemmed from James Brown, David Bowie, Queen, The Killers, Jack White, RHCP, U2, a-ha, Coldplay.
Since conception, they have topped the iTunes charts with songs "Time to See," "Anything You Want" which have been featured in international movies (Break 2019, She Sees Red 2019) and TV ads (Lay's, Renault cars).
Having supported You Me At Six live in 2019 and performed at the FIFA Fan Fest 2018, NEEDSHES have garnered support from idobi Radio (heavy rotation), Indiemono, Alternative Press, PopMatters, Substream Magazine, BBC Radio 6 Music, KUTX Radio to name a few.
In 2019 they released their third album "Truth Power".
In 2020 they won the Independent Music Awards (NY) in the category "Song Used in Ad Campaign" with their track "Unbelievable" used in Lay's one-year ad campaign in 32 countries of Europe.
In 2020 they also won 2nd place in Rock genre in the International Songwriting Competition (Nashville, TN) genre with their track "Pain" from the album "Truth Power."
