Artist: cable tv Title: Mr. Obvious Label: Happy Biscuit Club Impact Date: 21st August 2020 cable tv is the new moniker of artist James Yuill. Best known for his one-man, electro-folk shows, Yuill has toured around the world and supported acts such as Phoenix, Hot Chip, Royksopp and M83, to name a few. Over the last few years, Yuill has moved further into producing and writing for other artists, such as Charlotte OC and Grace Savage, but there still remained a desire to keep writing and releasing his own music. With each new artist Yuill worked with, his approach to production and song writing changed. Where once acoustic guitars and house beats sounded, now there are slower tempos and 90s-esque toplines. Yuill says:“I used to write on an acoustic guitar, and ultimately, I’d end up wanting to keep that element present. I don’t really do that anymore. Now it’s just me and my synths. The writing process is more fluid. I’m going for a more stripped down sound. With that, my vocals are now free to wander around in an almost late 80s/early 90s way. cable tv is the combination of all those elements.” Mr Obvious comes out on Yuill’s Happy Biscuit Club label on 3rd July.
