TUNE Kojey Radical - Can't Go Back
East London’s renaissance man KOJEY RADICAL returns with reflective new offering ‘CAN’T GO BACK’, the first cut to be taken from his explosive, 3rd full-length body of work to come later this year.
Exploring the young rapper’s upward journey through his experience of depression - recognising the understanding that we are not defined by negatives but rather empowered by them - ‘CAN’T GO BACK’ is a rich mix of uplifting, heartfelt funk and gospel-tinged instrumentation; providing a beautiful backdrop against his solemn storytelling.
'FEELING I WANNA DIE…
FEELING LIKE I’LL NEVER FLY’
Quoting on the track, Kojey speaks;
‘It’s been 2 years since my last project, it used to frustrate me but everything makes sense now. I needed that room for clarity. If I’m gonna open up and talk about my darker moments I don’t want it to be sad. I wanna celebrate the fact I’m doing better. Can’t Go Back is the first siren in a symphony. The sound track to my emancipation’
The whip-smart rapper consistently proves himself to be one of the most impressive talents to come out of the UK; with 2019 accolades including an IVOR NOVELLO nomination for Best Contemporary Song ‘Black Rose’ (Ghetts ft Kojey Radical), collaborating with acclaimed artist and filmmaker Hito Steyerl on an immersive installation ‘Power Plants’ showing at THE SERPENTINE, featuring in an i-D film ‘The A-Z of UK Now’, contributing to ‘Untitled’ the recent BASQUIAT inspired compilation album co-produced by The Vinyl Factory, performing at the ROYAL ALBERT HALL and jumping on debut album projects from his peers SHY FX, COLLARD, SWINDLE and ETTA BOND.
Catch Kojey and his explosive live band experience as they kick off festival season on May Bank Holiday at LOVE SAVES THE DAY on the Crack / Paradiso stage, with further appearances at NASS, THE ENDS FESTIVAL, FIELD DAY and WE OUT HERE.
Stay tuned for further updates around RADICAL’s much anticipated follow-up release to the acclaimed IN GODS BODY project from 2016.
