TUNE Guds Pengar - Qute
Malmö's Guds Pengar are back with their third single on Rama Lama Records as one of the latest additions to the label family. Qute sees the band showcase another side of their warped indie rock, letting the gritty take one step back and bringing the melodic sides to the front. The track is taken from the band's debut album 'Granar som flyr staden' which is out on May 15th.
Guds Pengar (Swedish for God's Money) have for the last year's been one of Malmö's best kept secret. With one self-released EP and ecstatic live shows the ever-changing constellation, with Evelina Nerstrand and Olof Stid as constant members, have build up somewhat of a cult status on the blooming Malmö DIY scene. With previous singles, the band finally have taken their first step out into the light and will soon have their first record out.
Qute shows us that there's more to Guds Pengar's music, a softer side than previous singles without losing their captivating qualities. According to the band, the song is a ballad in the name of self pity, describing the state when you let yourself go to your anxiety and small everyday problems becomes gigantic disappointments. The state when everything is predictable and boring, pretty pathetic but very human.
With a ground in classic Swedish punk and indie rock, Guds Pengar spices things up to a more exciting level with their mixture of the complex and immediate. Even though lyrics are all in Swedish their sonic power makes it hard to let go of Guds Pengar as soon as you've let them into your heart.
Guds Pengar are Evelina Nerstrand (Eveliina Pink), Olof Strid, Liam Amner (Hey Elbow) and Anton Jansson (Brigaden). Qute is out on now on Rama Lama Records (Melby, Julia Rakel, Steve Buscemi's Dreamy Eyes etc. and the debut album 'Granar som flyr staden' is out on all digital platforms and limited pink vinyl on May 15th.
