Devon born and London based singer songwriter Sam Way has always been in love with language and the written word.
Sam’s musical talents, home grown in Devon, were first discovered upon his moving to London by the ex manager of ‘The Sex Pistols’, Eric Hall, who introduced him to an indie record label to release his first run of single with in 2013. A small national tour followed swiftly after this supported by radio slots on BBC Devon, Cornwall, Bristol and Cambridge to name a few and soon this he secured his first festival slot at ‘Somersault’ fest.
Collaborating prolifically in his early years as a songwriter, he produced work alongside William Baker (Head creative for Kylie Minouge/Rihanna) Edward Abela (Chart topping composer, Warner Music) and the internationally booked London Contemporary Voices choir whilst earning his stripes on the live circuit in London, nationally and abroad in LA and NYC, playing Sofar-sounds on both coasts. Radio support followed from Amazing Radio with his ‘Stargazer’ single release and he made live appearances on BBC London Radio. Another co-headline tour followed across the UK with friend and fellow songwriter Anna Pancaldi.
Now a seasoned performer, Sams fanbase across the world is growing exponentially, especially in Turkey though his association with a popular Turkish novel.
A regular on the singer-songwriter circuit, often hosting packed out shows in London - Sam’s last EP ‘Archetype ’ climbed to number 8 in the singer songwriter charts in the UK and in 2018 ‘Interlude’ his first ever piano composition amassed over 50K streams after being added to numerous playlists.
In 2019 – His single ‘Heroes’ was released, to be the first of 5 releases to come in 2019 - and the song was backed by BBC introducing in Devon. Most recently his collaboration with the iconic ‘Covers’ sessions was released late May. The platform, a branch of the trendsetting ‘Mahogany’ blog, are known to champion unsigned, undiscovered talent about to do bigger, brighter things and so their session with the poet warrior on the rise seems to be perfectly timed.
With an ear for wonderful melodies, a mind for beautifully delicate lyrics, and an honest conviction to his craft, Sam Way is still a hidden gem, for how much longer, we will see.
