TUNE Taller Than Stories - Manipulation
Joy is the most lighthearted song on the album; the narrator has just begun a new relationship. The song is entirely in A major aside from a brief move to the sub dominant key in the middle section (1:50). The song features cornet and guitar solos as well as group vocals. The piano introduction comes straight out of pain, but after the introduction the piano stops. The piece is entirely in 4/4 aside from one bar of 7/8 that leads into the final chorus. This song was inspired by The Beatles (A day in the life), ELO (Mr Blue Sky), Pulp (Common People) and Beck (Girl).
