TUNE Terry Dring - I Hope You Know
'I Hope You Know', is an unusual, brilliant song, defying easy catergorisation. Written at a piano, and like 'Puddles', demands really, to be recorded on one, but also, as with 'Puddles', Terry only had a £40 Argos keyboard to record it on(!), so he buried the keyboard sound in the mix a little more, giving what was a burning, epic, piano driven ballad, a much more powerpop and acoustically driven sound, changing the tone of the piece somewhat. A good publisher/producer listening, will recognise that this song could be recorded in several different ways.
Terry says: "I didn't have the vocal chops to sing the chorus on the day I recorded it, which frustrates me, as I can normally belt this out a bit like McCartney singing 'Maybe I'm Amazed' (well, maybe not quite that well!), but I hope you can hear this fine song, beyond my performance. A good song for a publisher this one, as the song could be interpreted in several different ways by different styles of artists".
