TUNE Terry Dring - Fly
'Fly' is a pretty self explanatory piece. It's words and music, superbly expressing the crippling lethargy of depression. Don't let that put you off from listening and enjoying 'Fly' however. This is a very strong song. It's almost serene, acoustic intro and beautifully sung first verses, morphing into pain expressed as garage rock or grunge. It perfectly captures the way the depressed brain flips between exhaustion, listlessness, lost will, and (in the song's coda) aimless anger.
Terry Says: "I'm quite proud of being able to convey this type of thing so clearly in a song, on a subject that sadly still remains, somewhat difficult and taboo, to talk candidly about. This is a strongly recorded song too, which is very satisfying as the writer, as it isn't always easy to record something difficult to convery, felt so personally. Writing and recording, therefore occured some time apart, to put some distance between the two".
