Sean Grant & The Wolfgang are set to release their new EP War Machines on December 8th via The Shipping Forecast. Having this year released their debut EP We The Working Class, Sean and his band have delved deep to pick out narratives inspired by the past, yet important to today.
Their music has never felt more biting and vital, with the EP opening with the title track ‘War Machines’ – which is inspired by The Codebreakers of Bletchley Park, who helped decipher Nazi codes during WWII. The effect that these people, including Tommy Flowers who inadvertently invented the world’s first computer, have completely shaped history. Many of these people went generations before telling their loved ones what they did during the war – the secrecy and intrigue of the Codebreakers and the park itself inspired the track and the video, which was filmed at The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park.
Of the track, Sean said: “I wanted to write about it because these people mattered, they made a huge difference to the world we live in today, it’s on our door step and not everyone knows about it.”
